James is an experienced business leader who has built his career at the forefront of change in the UK and European energy sector — helping organisations navigate the complex intersections of policy, technology, and economics.

James has an entrepreneurial background, having grown a consulting business (Ecuity) from inception to acquisition by Gemserv, and later supporting its integration into a global technology and professional services firm (Talan). Along the way, he has led high‑performing teams across delivery and sales, developing a deep understanding of how to combine human expertise with technology to deliver modern, future‑fit services. 

A substantial part of his career has focused on energy policy—providing strategic advisory services, policy analysis, and influencing activity to governments, regulators, and industry. James brings deep subject‑matter expertise across: Retail Energy Markets, Low Carbon Heat, Hydrogen, Heat Networks, Electric Vehicles, Smart & Flexible Grids, Energy Efficiency, Bioenergy, and Environmental Policy. 

Today, James brings together this mix of leadership, policy, and commercial experience to help clients, regulators, and industry partners shape the markets of the future.
