AccorInvest Accelerates its Transformation through Data Governance

Context
Over a period of three years, the Accor Group undertook a transformation project aimed at developing HotelInvest, the group's real estate branch. In 2017, HotelInvest became the AccorInvest Group, a strategic hotel investor, owner, and operator.
To enable AccorInvest to achieve its growth and development ambitions, Accor opened AccorInvest's capital in May 2018 to long-term investors, including sovereign wealth funds and institutional investors.
Today, AccorInvest operates in 27 countries with 838 hotels managed by Accor, totaling €1.7 billion in revenue as of December 2021.
Challenges
To maximize the real estate value of its hotel portfolio, the Accor Group mandated the split of its hotel management and real estate investment management activities.
Following this separation, AccorInvest had to take over the full management of Accor Hotel's real estate portfolio and build its own information system to manage its assets autonomously.
AccorInvest's current strategy consists of maximizing the operational performance of the Accor Group's hotels using four levers: acquisition, lease restructuring, renovation, and development.
Methods and Solutions
Talan supported AccorInvest from the definition of its Data strategy through to its implementation:
Scoping the Information System foundations: building the Real Estate Asset repository.
Identification of a solution capable of managing real estate asset data on a global scale.
Integration of the chosen solution, Tibco EBX, in less than a year to meet the needs of various business lines, including Asset Management, Facility Management, Legal, Finance, Construction, and Technical Services.
Benefits
Streamlined Management: Steering hotel management and real estate investment activities was made possible by the separation of businesses.
IT Process Simplification: Implementation of a single, common tool for all real estate asset management business lines.
Improved Business Performance: Reduction of reprocessing caused by "shadow IT," allowing teams to focus on portfolio management rather than data aggregation and quality.
Increased Performance
" Master Data Management within AccorInvest has improved their way of working and the performance management of their assets. "
Jofrey Bonnel, Delivery Manager at Talan
Global Transformation
" Business stakeholders were heavily impacted by the transformation related to Master Data Management, but they were very enthusiastic once they understood it would be easier to collect more valuable and qualitative data than before. "
Chantal Grimaux, IS Service Operation lead – IS Finance and Master Data at Accorinvest
