Context

Faced with the rapid evolution of its sector, the client identified the need to adopt a new Data Integration platform. This transition aimed not only to replace the existing tool but also to add advanced functionalities, such as interfacing with existing and future systems, including cloud hosting, CRM, and ERP tools.

Talan, thanks to its expertise in Data Management and Governance and its strategic partnership with Informatica, was chosen to support this transformation. Together, they deployed the IDMC (Intelligent Data Management Cloud) solution, an innovative AI-powered platform.

Challenges

In a sector as demanding as medical diagnostics, data management plays a crucial role in supporting growth and remaining competitive. The client faced several major challenges requiring a robust, future-oriented solution:

  • Agility: The company wanted to modernize its data integration capabilities to improve strategic and operational decision-making. This involved implementing a platform capable of processing up-to-the-minute data and supporting various integration models (ETL, ELT, CDC, etc.).

  • Scalability: The organization needed a scalable platform capable of integrating seamlessly with the existing IT architecture while remaining adaptable to future developments in its information system. This compatibility was essential to secure technological investments.

  • Innovation: By leveraging advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), the client aimed to automate and optimize data integration processes. Furthermore, using the cloud was intended to enable the seamless adoption of new technologies, ensuring an infrastructure that remains at the cutting edge.

Solutions

To meet these complex challenges, Talan implemented a methodical and personalized approach in collaboration with Informatica, relying on the provider's IDMC solution.

  1. Installation and Configuration of the IDMC Solution: Talan’s experts set up a fully secure environment, including user and rights management, version control, and connectors to interface with existing systems. Pilot flows were developed to validate technical choices and demonstrate the solution's effectiveness.

  2. Audit and Migration Strategy: This stage laid the solid foundations for the project. Talan analyzed the existing infrastructure, studied the assets of the legacy Datastage tool, and classified the types of flows to be migrated. This step helped rationalize priorities, identify areas for improvement beyond simple technical migration, and design a clear strategy for each flow category.

  3. Scoping and Alignment: This phase was conducted to align the solution with the client’s specific needs. Teams worked to define a customized target architecture, taking into account technical and strategic objectives. In parallel, training sessions were organized to transfer the necessary skills to internal teams, supporting change management and facilitating the adoption of the new platform.

Benefits

Thanks to Talan's intervention and the use of the IDMC solution, the client now possesses a data management infrastructure that is high-performing, scalable, and centered on Data Quality.

First, the installed platform is ready to accommodate new use cases, such as Master Data Management (MDM) or the implementation of data catalogs. Its optimized configuration ensures smooth integration with existing AWS systems and future ones like Snowflake.

The internal teams, having been trained and supported, are now able to manage the transition effectively. This change management support has strengthened their autonomy and ensured the rapid adoption of new features.

Technically, the data migration has been carefully validated. Pilot flows demonstrated the feasibility and reliability of operations while providing a proven methodology for future deployment stages.

Finally, the project provided clear visibility regarding the budget and the steps required to complete the migration. Thanks to this rigorous planning, the client can now confidently move forward into the next phases of digital transformation.

EBy leveraging the power of Informatica’s IDMC solution, the company also benefits from a unified, AI-powered cloud, guaranteeing data management that is agile, secure, and future-ready. This transformation positions the client as a leader in its field, prepared to meet the technological challenges of tomorrow.
