Meet the Experts
Why should you attend?

Join us for an insightful webinar on Monday 24 November showcasing the resources that can be accessed through Scottish Hydrogen Innovation Network (SHINe) members.

We will spotlight the available support for innovative small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and research and development (R&D) projects in the hydrogen sector.

The Scottish hydrogen innovation system and funding landscape can be complex. Scotland is set to lead the hydrogen revolution, but its full potential is yet to be realised.

Meet the experts

At the webinar, ‘Facilities fuelling hydrogen innovation – available support for project developers and innovators’, we will hear from two of our SHINe members:

Professor Mark Symes | Glasgow Hydrogen Innovation Centre

The Glasgow Hydrogen Innovation Centre is part of the University of Glasgow’s main campus, supporting research groups and commercial enterprises across Scotland. The team’s expertise guides new innovators from experimental proof-of-concept all the way through to small prototype stage.

Representing the University of Glasgow, Professor Mark Symes will highlight how their innovation centre can direct innovators towards relevant testing and commercialisation opportunities.

The organisation can provide links to world-leading academic research groups. Alongside this, the centre has links to TÜV SÜD. This collaboration offers testing space and expertise, including flow meter testing and risk assessments.

Kara Hazelgrave | Power Networks Demonstration Centre (PNDC)

The PNDC is a whole energy systems research, test and demonstration facility at the University of Strathclyde. The facility helps to de-risk and accelerate the development of electricity, heat, and transport systems that can contribute towards realising the UK’s net zero ambitions. We will be hearing from Kara Hazelgrave, Innovation Engagement Manager at PNDC. Kara will be presenting an overview of PNDC’s capabilities, and how they can support hydrogen innovators to get their projects off the ground.

Specifically for the hydrogen sector, PNDC provides access to their open-access facility, while engaging with the hydrogen innovation ecosystem. It also provides insights into the leading, relevant use case applications and market opportunities for hydrogen technologies.

Lead by their wealth of academic expertise and connections to government and industry, PNDC can help to pave the way for hydrogen innovations by sharing and developing their knowledge, skills, and expertise.
