The Challenge

Migrating brands to a modern platform

Informa needed to migrate multiple media brands from disparate legacy platforms onto a single modern CMS — a complex shift affecting long‑established brands, decades of content and editorial teams across business units. The challenge went beyond technical migration: stakeholders had to adopt new processes, workflows and support structures while maintaining brand integrity and audience engagement. Talan delivered a change communications programme to accelerate adoption, align teams, manage timelines and make the transition as seamless as possible.

The Solution

A two-phased approach

We delivered a two‑phase communications programme grounded in agile principles. Phase one built foundations with stakeholder mapping, personas, KPIs, a clear brand identity and a foundations playbook guiding teams through migration. A central intranet hub hosted training, tools and FAQs, supported by a network of superusers. Phase two ensured sustainability through monthly bulletins, quarterly Town Halls, success stories and iterative intranet updates, giving teams the right information at the right time.

The Results

Accelerating digital transformation

Effective communication and content development played a crucial role in streamlining Informa’s SCM migration process, sharing cross-divisional updates and learnings, and supporting the business in securing further media sites to migrate to SCM. With change communication playing an important role in streamlining and supporting successful site migrations, the cycles are now happening in shorter timeframes, with reduced delays, enabling Informa to accelerate its digitisation and reach its objective more quickly.
