ENGIE Offers Personalized Services to its Residential Customers

Cas client acteur majeur de l'energie

Context and the "Ma conso+" Service

ENGIE supports its residential customers in consuming less and better energy, notably through the Ma conso+ service. This service is designed to help users better understand, manage, and reduce their energy consumption. With Ma conso+, they can track their electricity usage in kWh and Euros in a clear and accessible manner.

The operation of Ma conso+ relies on a connected device consisting of a radio transmitter installed in the Linky meter and a receiver plugged directly into the user's home. This system allows customers to fully benefit from the service's features, which include:

  • Tracking their household consumption in real-time, wherever they are.

  • More easily anticipating future energy expenditures.

  • Identifying the energy cost of their household appliances.

With Ma conso+, ENGIE offers a practical and innovative solution for more responsible daily energy management.

Challenges

When the company reached out to Talan, it had decided to leverage "fine" consumption data—meaning data with second-by-second precision. By gaining a better understanding of customer behavior, ENGIE could develop personalized services to better support its clients.

Solution et benefits

Based on this objective, Talan's experts proposed and developed several algorithms powering the features of the Ma conso+ service:

Intra-monthly Forecasting: This feature aims to predict consumption in kWh and Euros for the current month, helping customers anticipate their next bill and avoid surprises. By using each customer's historical consumption data, it generates a personalized forecasting model to accurately estimate future usage.

Start & Stop: This functionality estimates the energy consumption of everyday electrical appliances, such as gaming consoles, kettles, hair dryers, etc. Thanks to Start & Stop, customers can test the impact of using these devices and discover exactly how much they cost in energy.

Disaggregation by Usage: The objective is to break down total electricity consumption into different usage categories, providing a detailed view of consumption. For example, with temperature-sensitive distribution, customers can visualize the impact of weather on their usage, while a standby distribution allows them to track the consumption of "always-on" devices like TVs, computers, routers, or consoles. This leads to a deeper understanding of consumption habits and optimization levers.
